Welcome to “The Dining Room”

“The Dining Room” is an homage to my childhood dining arrangements, the space where my family and I have been able to find peace over a tumultuous four year period. Every material choice was made with the intention of honoring my family and the spaces we have shared. This is a space filled with the warmth and familiarity of solid wood furniture, carefully considered sensitivity-friendly lighting, and traditional foods enjoyed by my family.

This project began as a way to feel closer to my family. In the past few years while I’ve been away at college, we’ve all experienced major health scares and developed a menagerie of lifelong medical conditions. Our greatest moments of solace were sitting around our dining table sharing a home cooked meal and catching up.

All recipes shown were gathered from old family recipes and cookbooks, and used to make seven types of bread over a thirty-six hour period, to be served fresh at the opening reception of “The Dining Room” on hand-carved wooden boards.

All photos shown on this page were taken by photography artist, Frederic Cafarella.
