This book cover was designed for a collaborative zine project fondly titled Mother Grawlix. The title was agreed upon by the class, a combination of ‘mother tongue’ referring to language, and ‘grawlix’ referring to censorship. It covers many topics related to the written word such as banned books, children’s literature, artist books, typography, the rebus principle, and much more. This zine was made by the Fall 2024 History of the Book course at the Montserrat College of Art.
